Custom web development

Custom web applications built around how you work

When off-the-shelf software doesn't fit, we design and build web apps that do: portals, booking tools, calculators and integrations that save your team real time.

When custom makes sense

Sometimes the software you need doesn't exist yet

Most businesses don't need custom software. A good WordPress or Shopify site, plus a few well-chosen tools, covers a lot of ground. But some processes don't fit a template: a booking flow with unusual rules, a quote calculator with dozens of variables, a portal where clients upload files and track their jobs, or a dashboard that pulls data from three systems your team currently copies between by hand.

That's when a custom web application pays for itself. We'll tell you honestly if an existing product would do the job for less.

Things we build

Client portals

Secure logins where customers can see project status, invoices, documents or messages.

Booking and scheduling tools

Built around your real availability rules, staff and service types.

Quote and pricing calculators

Let customers get an estimate on your website, and send you a qualified lead at the same time.

Internal dashboards

One screen with the numbers your team actually needs, pulled from the systems you already use.

Integrations

Connecting your website to your CRM, accounting, email or inventory software so data moves on its own.

Directories and marketplaces

Searchable listings, member profiles and submission workflows.

How we build it

We choose proven, well-supported technology so your application is easy to maintain and easy to hand to another developer one day. Depending on the project, that might be React or Next.js on the front end, Node.js or PHP on the back end, and a standard SQL database. Search-facing pages are rendered on the server so they stay readable to Google and AI crawlers.

We build in stages. You see a clickable prototype early, then working features one at a time, rather than waiting months for a big reveal. Each stage is tested before the next begins.

You own the code. It lives in a repository under your account, with documentation, so you're never locked in.

The process

  1. Discovery and scope

We map how the process works today, where it breaks, and what "done" looks like. You get a written scope and estimate.

  2. Prototype

Clickable screens to test the flow before any real code is written. Changes here are cheap. Our UX design work happens at this stage.

  3. Build in stages

Features delivered in short cycles with regular demos.

  4. Testing and launch

Functional, security and performance testing, then a careful launch.

  5. Support

Bug fixes, updates and new features as your needs grow.

Questions we get asked

Is custom development much more expensive than WordPress?

Usually, yes, at the start. It can work out cheaper over time if it replaces several paid tools or saves your team hours of manual work every week. We'll help you weigh that up honestly.

Who owns the code?

You do. The code is stored under your account and handed over with documentation.

Can you work with our existing systems?

In most cases. If a system has an API or can export data, we can usually connect to it.
